Alex Thacker, MMus, BMus(hons) is a conductor, composer and music teacher working in Wales and England. He has studied both composition and choral conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) and is Musical Director of Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society, Cheltenham Choral Society and the Cavatina Singers.
Alex has written a wealth of music, including commissions for the Cardiff Polyphonic Choir, The Handful, Bath and LCCS. Most recently his two carols, A Babe is born and Cantemus in choro, were featured in a series of virtual performances by his three choirs, entitled, Winter Legends, Christmas Bells.
Alex is a committed teacher of Music Theory, up to Grade 8 standard, and relishes teaching pupils of all levels, both in person and virtually. If you are interested in taking lessons with Alex, please click here.
Other freelance work includes regular lay singing at Llandaff Cathedral and Derby Cathedral at various other churches and cathedrals in Cardiff, and ad hoc work assisting the live broadcasting of concerts at the Three Choirs Festival.
